We are blazing through the Fall season now, and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is giving us extra movies each week to watch! Although this movie isn’t centered around the Fall season it does have some gorgeous scenery and a fun mystery element. And to be fair, it’s hard to go wrong with a movie set in a gorgeous orchard! This is the third of the September movies that Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has debuted and it’s sure to keep your attention. Let’s get started with our review of “The Secrets of Bella Vista.”

My Review:

I’m a HUGE Niall Matter fan. I have loved all of his movies on Hallmark, most recently, “Rip In Time.” And I was new to Rachelle Lefevre when she was the lead actress in “Moriah’s Lighthouse” but I was a big fan of hers in that movie as well. Consequently, when you put those two actors together and oh my goodness, you’ve got a really good movie!

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The mystery element was fun and entertaining and the love story kept me waiting on the edge of my seat to see what would happen next! Usually, the actual mysteries on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries don’t have a ton of love story to them, but this one hits both notes perfectly, which makes me a happy gal.

The apple orchard is gorgeous and when the scenery is just beautiful, it just makes the movie all the more enjoyable to watch. Moreover, there’s the added bonus of all the airplane shots, and while we are on that subject, Niall Matter as a pilot? Um, yes, please. I thought that added a little extra to the movie.

Furthermore, the mystery was not just a simple straight line to the finish either, it was more complex and had some twists and turns, which I thought was super interesting.

I watched this movie late at night and I was worried I would not be able to stay awake. But, to my surprise, I was totally engaged and alert the entire time, which is high praise from this tired mama! I really enjoyed this movie and I would definitely highly recommend it if you’ve not watched it yet! Let me know what you think when you do watch it!

Location, Location, Location

“The Secrets of Bella Vista,” was filmed in Hamilton, Ontario, mostly in an apple orchard. In my research, I was not able to find which exact apple orchard they filmed at, but it’s in this region, and it was gorgeous for sure. They filmed in June, which is not apple season, so in the movie, they definitely had to attach some apples to the trees, which I thought was a super fun little nugget of information!

“The Secrets of Bella Vista” was originally going to be called “The Apple Orchard.” This movie is based on the Bella Vista series of books by author Susan Wiggs. The first book of the series is called “The Apple Orchard” and it is Tess’s story. The second book is called “The Beekeeper’s Ball” and it’s Isabel’s story. I’m going to hope that maybe they jump in and make the sequel! I’d love to see Isabel open her cooking school!
