Guys and gals, I’ll be honest. I can barely contain my excitement that it’s finally once again Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas!!!!! I adore all kinds of Hallmark movies, but the Christmas-themed ones just really hold a special place in my Christmas-loving heart. And Hallmark is starting off with the dream team of Natalie Hall and Corey Sevier. They are fantastic apart and even better together. What more could we need to kick off our Christmas movie season? Let’s jump in and find out!

My Review:

There’s no point in beating around the bush — I flipping adored this movie. From the first minute until the last minute I was locked in and seriously enjoying this movie. It’s the first Christmas movie of the season, so you know it’s going to be amazing. They have to start strong. But, even so, this movie was an absolute delight.

Plot

The story was great. I love the plot of a Christmas scrooge learning to love Christmas again storyline and this one did not disappoint. I love that he’s overcoming obstacles and so is she. A single mom recovering from a recent divorce is always a good trope, too. So really, they put together two really stellar ideas and I think it worked really well.

Any scene that happened in the diner was just fantastic and I loved the scene where Jeremy gets Noel’s phone number. Particularly, where she says “you should just call me tonight.” So sweet. I loved it!

Actors

I love Natalie Hall and I love Corey Sevier. Put them together and they have smoldering chemistry together and I thoroughly enjoyed them. They had a movie together earlier this year called “Road Trip Romance” and then they each had separate movies this year as well! Natalie Hall was in “Fly Away With Me” and Corey Sevier was just recently in “Pumpkin Everything.” I like them both on their own, but put them together and you’ve got magic.

The villains were great in this movie and totally did their job because I wanted to punch them all in the face! The kid? My gosh — he was fantastic! Callum Shoniker played Henry and that kid is brilliant because I thought the kid was a MONSTER in the movie. He was the worst! So hat’s off to Callum Shoniker!! What a great performance!

The Bottom Line

My bottom line is this — This movie was a huge win in my opinion! It’s a great movie and I really and truly enjoyed every minute of the watch. Hurry up and watch it if you haven’t seen it yet! It’s really wonderful and heartwarming! Let me know what you think once you’ve seen it!

  • Dan – “Yeah, this is a bad movie. It just so happens to be bad with two good leads and good chemistry.”
  • Jacks – “I thought this was really cute. I was uncomfortable with how mean the villain characters were. Natalie Hall is a national treasure. I really enjoyed this movie.”
  • Alonzo – “This movie is very lucky to have Natalie Hall and Corey Sevier. They have crazy chemistry and really elevate the material. But the material of this movie kind of put me off.”

Location, Location, Location

“Noel Next Door” was filmed in Ottawa, Ontario. I think the movie was set in Chicago? I’m not totally sure about that — but it was definitely filmed in Ottawa. And really, there weren’t a ton of scenes that were location-specific at all, it could have been filmed most anywhere and the location would likely have looked very similar!

It must be a popular place to film movies though because according to the Ottawa Film Office, 14 movies were filmed in Ottawa this year, which is a record for them!

Movie Must Haves:

There were a couple of items in this movie that I just ADORED! I went online shopping until I found some items that were super similar, if not the exact same thing! So, if you had the same envy I did, here’s where you can find some of the great items seen in the movie!

These are the most adorable pajamas! And I believe these are actually the exact same ones that “Noel” and “Henry” are wearing in the movie!

Natalie Hall has on great black leather gloves in several of the scenes and I loved them! They always look super classy! These faux-leather black gloves are super cute and affordable!

This wool blend coat looks super similar to Natalie Hall’s coat she wears throughout the movie! And this beautiful coat is just over $50! What!!

Natalie Hall has great shoes in this movie. These aren’t the exact black boots — but they are pretty darn close. And they are beautiful boots and affordable as well!

And while we are at it, here’s the scarf she’s wearing in the movie as well… or at least it’s pretty darn close match! And super affordable too!

I loved the scarf Corey Sevier wore, too! It looked so manly with is wool coat! This scarf is very similar to what he wears in the movie and it’s a great gift idea!

Those earmuffs Natalie Hall wears in the movie are the biggest ones I’ve ever seen. But they would be SO warm! Here are some that are similar!

I loved the candy canes that were all over at the skating rink. These candy cane decorations are similar, but they light up and use solar power!

Fun Film Facts

There are two fun facts I love about this movie! The first is, its working name during filming was “The Grinch Who Stole My Heart” and I love that name more than “Noel Next Door”! What a cute name! I’m sure Hallmark had their reasons, but I am loving the first version!

And secondly, this film was shot in Ottawa during the actual winter months. So the snow is real and the cold is real. It’s always more fun to see actual snow that to know the actors were likely burning alive shooting a Christmas film in July when it was ninety degrees outside.

I am wild about this movie and if you’ve not seen it yet, stop what you are doing immediately and go watch it! It’s wonderful and it will not disappoint!
