The portrait of Aubrey Reynolds in Love's Portrait

This is so exciting!! Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is giving us all new movies on Sunday nights in September, too! Not only did we get four new movies in August, but we are also getting FOUR more in September! And they all look to be a delight when I read their descriptions and synopsis! I adore a Fall movie. I adore a movie filmed in Ireland. And I adore a little mystery. This movie is giving me all three. What’s not to love! Let’s dive into the “Love’s Portrait” movie review!

My Review:

I said it above, and it bears repeating. I LOVE a Fall movie. And I freaking ADORE a movie filmed in Ireland. Add to that an element of mystery? COME ON! It’s a home run for me!

So, clearly, I had high hopes going into this movie. And for the most part, they NAILED it with this movie. I loved it. It’s hard not to love a Fall movie in Ireland. You’ve just got so much scenery, you really can’t miss. And I really liked the storyline too.

Do you have to suspend your belief that the portrait would have been sent to her? Or that the first person she runs into in Ireland is the man that painted it? SURE. But why not! That’s where all the fun is!

I loved their search for the O’Bryan that would have sent the portrait. And how about all the countryside we got to see in the meantime. I loved the look into the lifestyle in Ireland and it made me want to go there immediately.

Oh — and here’s a first for this season of Fall movies! It’s actually FALL in this movie. It was filmed in the Fall in Ireland in 2021. And there are Fall leaves and Fall colors everywhere, which I’ve been patiently waiting to see for weeks now!! Yay Fall vibes!

And more than any of that, this turns out to be a sweet little love story. She’s literally the woman of his dreams, and he’s her second chance. I loved it from beginning to end! In my opinion, it’s a must-watch Fall movie — let me know what you think when you see it!

Location, Location, Location

The few parts of “Love’s Portrait” where the movie is in the United States are filmed in Springville, Utah. But let’s get to the really good stuff! “Love’s Portrait” was filmed almost entirely on location in Ireland in County Kilkenny and the Village of Inistioge. There’s quite a bit of footage at Jerpoint Abbey as well. And the scenery is GORGEOUS. I mean, just ridiculously gorgeous. Needless to say, another location has just been added to my bucket list of travel. And FALL! Oh, the Fall leaves and colors!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so happy.

Fun Film Facts

Richard McWilliams that plays William, and Kathryn McKiernan that plays Saoirse, are actually from Ireland. Nothing fake about those accents! And I am loving it! This is the first time on Hallmark for either actor, but I sure hope it’s not the last. Both were fantastic. I especially enjoyed Kathryn McKiernan!

Wrap Up – Love’s Portrait

That’s a wrap on our review of Love’s Portrait. There are more Fall movies to come, but this one set a high bar. If your scenery isn’t the Irish countryside, then that movie’s going to have a steep hill to climb! I really and truly enjoyed this movie so much. This story was so different than most that you see on the channel, and I loved the element of mystery in the movie as well. I say this is a must-watch Fall movie, and I can’t wait to hear what you think about it, too! Until then, Happy Hallmarking!
