Katherine and Peter look at Roy and ARlene during a scene from "Ghosts of Christmas Always" movie

It’s the end of week 2 of Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas! We are finishing the week up with “Ghosts of Christmas Always” and let me tell you, it does not disappoint. At ALL. The actors in this movie are fantastic, both in the lead and supporting roles. The story is wonderful. The scenery is awesome. It’s pure magic. Let’s dive into the “Ghosts of Christmas Always” movie review!

My Review:

I’m just going to tell you right now, if you haven’t seen this movie yet, stop what you are doing and go watch it right now. It’s THAT good. There is no point at all putting off saying this — I ADORED THIS MOVIE!

Katherine, Roy, and Arlene are the ghost of Christmas present, future, and past. They “Scrooge” people on December 23 and get them back on track just in time for Christmas. The movie begins as Katherine and company finish “Scrooging” the singer, Susan Kraine. They are in Katherine’s hometown of Hartford, Connecticut, so she takes a little extra time to walk around and reminisce. While she’s doing that, she runs into Peter Baron, who shouldn’t be able to see her… only he can.

The next Christmas, Katherine, Roy, and Arlene get their new “Scrooging” assignment and it’s none other than… you guessed it… Peter Baron. They help him realize that he doesn’t want to work for his dad’s company and they report back early. Only then do they find out, they were given the wrong Baron and Peter’s dad, Robert Baron, is actually who they were supposed to “Scrooge.”

The trio goes back to Hartford to finish the job and with Peter’s help and what follows is a wonderful, funny, romantic, eventful storyline that makes this movie pure magic. It’s only at the end that Katherine finally realizes she has been the “assignment” all along and she must decide if she’s ready to go into the “Great Unknown” and follow her destiny… which leads her to Peter.

The two lead actors in this movie are FANTASTIC. Ian Harding and Kim Matula have insane chemistry onscreen and are an absolute delight to watch. The supporting actors and actresses are just as good and each actor lends a very specific quality and element to the movie. And also… they are all just beyond delightful. My favorite was definitely grouchy Arlene. Or maybe future ghost Roy. I loved Charlie the director of assignments. It’s too hard to choose!

The Bottom Line

This movie is an absolute delight and I think it’s the best Hallmark Christmas movie I’ve ever seen. Not just this season’s best, it’s the best I’ve ever seen. It’s wonderful. Let me know what you think once you’ve seen it! It’s my number one on the list for this year by a mile so far!

Movie Must Haves:

There were a couple of items in this movie that I just ADORED! I went online shopping until I found some items that were super similar, if not the exact same thing! So, if you had the same envy I did, here’s where you can find some of the great items seen in the movie!

This red wool coat is amazing! It would look great during the holidays, of course, but it would also be amazing the rest of the winter season, too!

I love the plaid scarf that Kim Matula is wearing in this scene with her red coat! The scarf looks perfect with the red jacket and would be a warm addition!

I’m not a hat person, but I loved the gray beret beanie hat that Kim Matula wore for this scene. This is not an exact match but it’s so pretty and fun!

Kim Matula’s red leather dress gloves are so pretty! And they look so great with her jacket in the movie. I loved them and immediately came on here to find them!

I love the offwhite turtleneck sweater Kim Matula wears in the movie! It’s so perfect for so many occasions because you can style it with the colors you have on!

The plaid wool coat Kim Matula wears is just gorgeous. I didn’t have any luck with the exact coat online, but this one is PRETTY darn close and it’s SOOOOO cute! It comes in other color combos, too!

These green pants are amazing! You could go with a hunter green or an olive green like these pants! They would look so festive for the holiday season and would be great year-round as well!

You can literally never go wrong with a classic pump shoe. They are timeless. And these olive green pumps are pretty close to the ones Kim Matula has on in the movie!

Fun Film Facts

The snow in this movie? It’s real! It happened to snow while they were filming in March in Connecticut, so there was no need for fake snow. I love it when that works out!!

Wrap-Up – “A Cozy Christmas Inn”

We are already through two weeks of Hallmark’s 2022 Countdown to Christmas season. Truly, that’s hard to believe! This week certainly did not disappoint and I can hardly wait to see what’s coming next down the pike. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone! It’s just wonderful from beginning to end! The only thing I’m sad about is that we just get one of these and that it won’t be back every single year. Let me know what you think once you’ve seen it! And until then, Happy Hallmarking!
