Hallmark Movies and Mysteries has all new movies on Sunday nights for the month of August! WOOOHOOO! I really adore the movies that come out on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel. And as the Big Sky River movie review will show, this movie is no exception to that!
Hallmark’s Fall Into Love season has begun! And as an extra special bonus, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel is airing new movies all month too! Every Sunday night in August has a new movie over on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries! Can I get a huge cheer for TWO new movies every week! WAHHHOOOOOO!!!! The August movies on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries don’t claim to be Fall movies, but they look to be a really good line up of fun ideas! I can’t wait to see them all! The first one out is Big Sky River, and it’s a great way to start the August movies! Let’s dive in to our movie review!
I love a good movie about a summer vacation spent away! Throw in that you’re going to be on a ranch in Montana for the summer? I’m so IN! Give me more, I’ll watch it ALL!
I really enjoyed this movie. I liked the two lead actors a lot and I thought they were great together. I like the stories of each of their families, and how they were navigating their separate losses. I thought the story of the divorce and how to navigate keeping a relationship with a step-parent was super interesting, too!
I thought the scenes where Kavan Smith (Boone) and Emmanuelle Vaugier (Tara) were first thinking of getting together were super cute. When he was working up to asking her out and bringing her flowers was adorable. And I love a good barn dance! And watching them both navigate their respective fears and hesitations was great. It wasn’t all just easy breezy, and I appreciate that!
All in all, I really like this movie. I thought the love story was sweet and I enjoyed watching the two families try to figure out if there was a way forward together or not. I thought all the actors, especially the kids, were great! I would recommend Big Sky River for a fun movie watch!
“Big Sky River” – The Deck The Hallmark Podcast Movie Review
What did The Deck The Hallmark guys think? You can listen or watch, whichever you like!
Location, Location, Location
So, even though this movie was set in Montana, in a fictional city of Parable, this movie was actually filmed in the Agassiz region of British Columbia, which is about sixty miles east of the city of Vancouver. As a small consolation thought, it is the Rocky Mountains in this movie, as the Rockies extend from northern New Mexico all the way to the north of Canada. So, at least it’s the same mountain range! And the pictures of the area are gorgeous! So, sign me up for some Canadian travel in British Columbia, stat!
Fun Film Facts
When I was looking up all the information for this movie and review, I had never seen Emmanuelle Vaugier on the Hallmark network and I thought she was new to Hallmark, and that was going to be my fun fact. But it’s not true! She’s starred in two other movies on Hallmark in years past! And with two SUPER famous actors no less! Emmanuelle was in “Love in Paradise” starring alongside Luke Perry in 2016. And before that, she starred in “It’s Christmas, Carol” in 2012 along with CARRIE FISHER! WHAT! How’s that for some fun movie trivia! Be right back, I have to go watch both of those movies ASAP!
Wrap Up – Big Sky River
I do enjoy a good Hallmark Movie & Mysteries movie and “Big Sky River” was super enjoyable. Kavin Smith and Emmanuelle Vaugier were so great together in this movie, and I thought they had really nice chemistry. The story was super enjoyable and the scenery was fun to look at as well. It made me definitely want to go stay on a ranch in Montana (or British Columbia!) and rest and recharge my batteries! I can’t wait for the rest of the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries August movies and to see what’s in store for us! In the meantime, if you’ve not seen “Big Sky River,” go watch and let me know what you think!
