A Cozy Christmas Inn Movie Review

We are already into week 2 of Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas for 2022! The first movies from last week were wonderful and we are on to week 2! We are starting out with “A Cozy Christmas Inn” movie review and it stars Jodie Sweetin and gives us a throwback to an old Hallmark Christmas favorite, so I don’t know how we could go wrong!

It’s week 2 of Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas! This week kicks off with “A Cozy Christmas Inn” movie review and it’s got a lot to unpack! It’s kind-of-a-sequel-but-not-really-a-sequel to an all-time fan favorite, Christmas Under Wraps from 2014 that originally starred Candace Cameron Bure. This movie definitely follows up on that movie and it’s a Christmas delight as well. Let’s dive in!

My Review:

I enjoyed this movie! It was a fun Christmas watch! I enjoyed the little town of Garland and all the fun townspeople a lot! There was lots of snow and tons of Christmas feels in this movie.

Erika (Jodie Sweetin) is an executive at a real estate company who must travel to Garland, Alaska to convince the owner of an inn there to sell the inn to her real estate firm. Andy (David O’Donnell) is the owner of the said inn. Erika quickly realizes that this owner, Andy, is an old boyfriend she dated back in Seattle.

Through the movie, they get close again, and *spoiler alert* fall back in love with each other. Ultimately instead of selling the inn, Erika helps Andy with his website and marketing and helps him build a bigger clientele for better business and cash flow for him, and saves the inn!

This is a big movie, as it has Jodie Sweetin (from Full House and Fuller House fame)! She has been in several other Hallmark movies over the years and they have always been great, and this one is no different! She stars alongside David O’Donnell, who, as far as I could find, has only been in one other Hallmark movie called “Christmas Under Wraps”, though he has directed quite a few Hallmark movies along the way!

And Frank is Brian Doyle-Murray, who ironically plays a character named Frank in the world-famous “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” movie. That’s a lot of famous folks in this movie!

The Bottom Line

The long and short of it is that this movie is fine. Will it be in my top 5 for the year? Probably not. But it won’t be anywhere near the bottom of my list either! It had a ton of fun holiday stuff and lots of Christmas decorations to look at! I’d watch it again!

Hot Takes!

Here’s a quick look at what the Deck The Hallmark Podcast Fellas thought about his movie:

  • Bran – “I really did enjoy this movie. It was good to be back in Garland. I love Garland and the cast of characters that make up Garland. I thought the Inn was great and I love Jodie Sweetin and I’m always happy to see her back here on the Hallmark channel.”
  • Brian – “This was great! It was my favorite movie of the season so far. I loved the ensemble feel. The town felt like a fun place to be.”
  • Dan – “I think it’s better than “Christmas Under Wraps” but I don’t think I’d ever watch either movie again. BUT, I love that there is an underlying theme of people changing, even people in an old town, and that was amazing. It showed you people can progress and change. Two thumbs up for that.”

Location, Location, Location

“A Cozy Christmas Inn” was set in the fictional town of Garland, Alaska. It was actually filmed in Huntsville, Utah last December in the middle of winter. So even if the city is fictional, the snow is real!

Huntsville, Utah is in the middle of the Ogden Valley and looks like it would be a gorgeous place to visit! It is definitely a remote location, so plan accordingly!! I’m definitely adding it to the travel bucket list!

Movie Must Haves:

There were a couple of items in this movie that I just ADORED! I went online shopping until I found some items that were super similar, if not the exact same thing! So, if you had the same envy I did, here’s where you can find some of the great items seen in the movie!

I love this knit scarf! It looks just like the scarf in the movie and I love it! If you want, you could sew on the white puffballs to make it an exact match!

This wool blend hooded coat looks pretty similar to Jodie Sweetin’s coat in the movie! And it’s under $60, too! It’s so cute! Plus it looks warm!

I LOVED the black slouchy knee-high boots Jodie Sweetin had on with the red dress in this movie. These are a super close match!

The red dress was fantastic! And it will work for all kinds of occasions! It’s perfect for Christmas but would also work for year-round wear!

The stockings over the fireplace lined with fur are so great! I absolutely adore them. I couldn’t find the exact ones but these are close!

Here’s another option on the stockings! These look more like the ones in the movie but don’t have the fur liners. But they are also adorable!

This wreath looks similar to what’s above the fireplace! It’s a battery-operated lit wreath! We got one similar to this last year and we loved it!

Andy’s coat grew on me as the movie went on! It’s perfect for wintertime and it looked very warm! A good denim jacket is always a good idea!!

Fun Film Facts

Here’s a fun fact about this movie! David O’Donnell is married to Jennifer Aspen, who played Claire in the movie! How cute is that?!
